Excel barcode generator instructions

Please confirm you are able to make this work PRIOR to choosing this option. My instructions work on my Mac, but it took some tech savviness to get there, and I will not be offering IT troubleshooting services on this!
  1. Open a new Excel file
  2. Go to File, then Page Setup then click on Margins
  3. Set margins and footer dimensions as follows (*see note below)
    • Top: 0.5
    • Bottom: 0.5
    • Left and Right: 0.1875
    • Header and Footer: 0
  4. Set Cell Widths:
    • Go to View, then Page Layout
    • Highlight Column A, then go to Format, Column, Width, and set to 2.6” (187 pixels)
      • Repeat for Columns C and E
    • Highlight Column B, then go to Format, Column, Width, and set to 0.17” (12 pixels)
      • Repeat for Columns D and F
  5. Set Cell Heights:
    • Highlight Row 1, then go to Format, Row, Height, and set to 0.38” (27 pixels)
      • Repeat for odd rows, through and including row 19
    • Highlight Row 2, then go to Format, Row, Height, and set to 0.71” (51 pixels)
      • Repeat for even rows, through and including row 20
    • If row 20 falls onto page 2, reduce the row height of row 20 by one pixel
  6. Fill out cells
    • In the odd rows of columns A, C, and E, type the following
      1. halfpintresale.com
      2. Use Calibri size 12, bold
      3. Vertical alignment: bottom
      4. Horizontal alignment: middle
    • In the even rows of columns A, C, and E, type the following
      1. *CONS$D.00*
      2. Where CONS is the consignor ID number and D is the price. For instance: *3788$2.00*
      3. Use Libre Barcode 39 Text, Size 33
        • Libre Barcode 39 Text can be downloaded from Google Fonts for free
      4. Vertical alignment: top
      5. Horizontal alignment: center
  7. Print test sheet – this should print onto an Avery label 5160 or equivalent sheet just like labels downloaded from the consignor system. If it does not print the barcodes cleanly on the labels, adjust margins, cell sizes, and font sizes as appropriate.
    • *NOTE: For reasons I don’t understand, when I set my version of Excel to be an 8.5” x 11” piece of paper and then measure what is on the screen, it measures 8.5” x 11.5”. My above instructions reflect what needs to be done so that when it prints, it prints correctly. If you do not have this gremlin in your computer/Excel, you may need to decrease the heights of your rows that each set of two rows measures 1”, not the 1.1” that mine do.
  8. Test readability – use a QR scanner on your phone to scan the barcode and confirm the text read is the consignor ID and price, with no spaces or asterisks (eg, 3788$2.00).
